What I Did
✅ Removed old grass, weeds, and roots
✅ Loosened and leveled the soil
✅ Added Dolomite Lime
💡 Before applying lime, check your soil's pH level. Grass grows best between pH 5.5 and 7.0. If the soil is too acidic, Dolomite Lime can improve growing conditions and provide additional magnesium. Don't overdo it though — too much lime can encourage weeds such as clover.
✅ Spread fresh grass seed
💡 Choose a calm day for sowing. I used approximately 25–50 g of seed per m² and made sure to spread it as evenly as possible. A spreader helps, but hand-sowing works too.
✅ Pressed the seeds gently into the soil
✅ Added a thin layer of lawn sand
💡 The lawn sand helps retain moisture around the seeds and creates better germination conditions.
✅ Watered regularly for several weeks
💡 This is probably the most important step. Keep the soil consistently moist for 3–4 weeks. I watered the area every morning and evening, especially during dry weather.
✅ First mow at 8–10 cm
💡 Be patient. Wait until the grass reaches 8–10 cm before mowing for the first time. By then the roots are usually established well enough to handle mowing. For the first cut, reduce the height to around 5 cm.
🌱 Result
Just a few weeks later, the lawn looked noticeably greener, denser, and healthier.
"A good lawn isn't created by the seed alone — it starts with the soil."
